armA and Aminoglycoside Resistance in Escherichia coli
We report armA in an Escherichia coli pig isolate from Spain. The resistance gene was borne by self-transferable IncN plasmid pMUR050. Molecular analysis of the plasmid and of the armA locus confirmed the spread of this resistance determinant.

An Escherichia coli strain with a plasmidic amikacin resistance has been selected for which the evidence strongly indicates that resistance is mediated by aminoglycoside phosphotransferase [APH(3')-II]: (i) this resistance was coupled with resistance against kanamycin and neomycin; (ii) partially purified APH(3')-II[APH(3") free] modified amikacin by phosphorylation; (iii) the product of the AP...
متن کاملResistance to Aminoglycoside Antibiotics in Escherichia coli Isolated from Urinary Tract Infection in Iran in 2000-2012: A Systematic Review
Background and Objectives: Resistance to aminoglycosides has become a major problem in the treatment of urinary tract infection due to the extensive use of this antibiotic group. Due to the increased resistance of Escherichia coli to aminoglycosides, this study systematically evaluated the resistance to aminoglycosides by Escherichia coli isolated from urinary tract infection (UTI) in Ira...
متن کاملDiscovery of a gene conferring multiple-aminoglycoside resistance in Escherichia coli.
Bovine-origin Escherichia coli isolates were tested for resistance phenotypes using a disk diffusion assay and for resistance genotypes using a DNA microarray. An isolate with gentamicin and amikacin resistance but with no corresponding genes detected yielded a 1,056-bp DNA sequence with the closest homologues for its inferred protein sequence among a family of 16S rRNA methyltransferase enzyme...
